Vitamix blenders consistently performed well in our testing, starting from 2012. We have only seen one Vitamix blender that makes creamy peanut butter, and can puree hearty soups without letting molten liquid rise up from the sides. It does not have preset buttons. However, it has the best range of speeds (far greater than those on the more expensive Blendtec 675) among all the blenders that we tried. The Vitamix 5200 is very popular in juice bars and professional kitchens. We’ve also found the Vitamix 5200 to be one of the most reliable and durable blenders we’ve tested, and if the motor burns out within the seven-year warranty period, Vitamix will promptly replace the machine.

Oster Versa Pro Series Blender – A less expensive, but more durable model. The Oster Versa model is the most balanced in price and performance that we have seen. Although not as strong or durable than the Vitamix5200, it can hold its own against blenders at twice the cost.

Oster Versa Pro Series Blender, the highest-powered and most affordable of all high-powered blenders. This model, at 1,400W, is more affordable than other blenders and operates more quietly. Also, it has a tamper which can be used to blow out air pockets when thickening mixtures. It is 17 1/2 inches high and will easily fit under cabinets than many other high-performance blenders. We don’t think this is the absolute best blender out there, and it doesn’t compare to Vitamix blenders in power and longevity (we burned out our Oster after two and a half years), but it does have serious blending skills, a user-friendly design, and a solid, seven-year warranty. Oster is a good choice if your budget doesn’t allow you to splash out on powerful blenders.

Amazon $75 Off, Walmart $130 off, Home Depot $100 KitchenAid K150 3 speed ice crushing blender is the perfect model for making smoothies and sauces. It costs just $100. With a 48-ounce jar and a low profile, the K150 is the smallest blender we recommend in this guide. It produced coarser textures than any of our other picks did, and its motor isn’t nearly as powerful (so it’s more likely to burn out if overtaxed). The warranty is another compromise that you can make to lower the cost. KitchenAid’s is only covered for one year, unlike other brands. However, it is an all-purpose blender with good performance that can fit under most kitchen cabinets.

This story was updated to reflect new recommendations from our November 2021 test. Eva Bleyer, Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen Appliances Lab Product Analyst, and Nicole Papantoniou Kitchen Appliances Lab Vice Director overseen the testing. We tested 25 blenders, and six including models from KitchenAid, Breville, Pampered Chef, Wolf Gourmet, Zwilling and Ninja earned spots on our list. Also, we updated the pricing of all products and verified that they were in stock.
If you want to blend kale, berries, or tomato soup, your blender must be able to process the ingredients in a smooth and creamy manner. In the Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen Appliances and Technology Lab, we’ve tested more than 100 blenders over the years to find the best high-performance models.
In 2021, we tested 25 new blenders: To see how well the blenders could handle hard ingredients, we ground more than 3 pounds of coffee beans, blended nearly 10 pounds of frozen strawberries and pulverized over 650 ice cubes. In addition to making strawberry green smoothies and frozen milkshakes, we also tried vanilla milkshakes. When testing, we rated the helpfulness of the owner’s manual and evaluated how easy each model is to assemble, use and clean. When the blenders were operating, it was also evaluated how loud they were. Finally, we checked how well the blenders resisted staining from tomato sauce that was left on overnight, and we measured the wear after 14 cycles in the dishwasher. This is a mix of in-home and laboratory testing to determine which blenders are best.

Best Blender at a Reasonable Price
NutriBullet blender 1,200Watts. NutriBullet makes it easy with three power levels. There is also a pulse setting. And there are 1,200 watts. All of our tests were positive. It was easy to make smooth batters, cold soups, good-quality grated cheese, and finely chopped ice. An affordable price means you won’t have to fork out a fortune to purchase a great blender.
NutriBullet has a slightly faster processor than the Ninja model. The 64-ounce blending jar is plenty big enough for most recipes. This personal blender comes equipped with a helpful recipe book, and a totter so all your ingredients touch the blades. NutriBullet blender containers are dishwasher-safe and come with a 1-year warranty.
NutriBullet blenders are simple and powerful. They’re also consistent. There are three models: the Nutribullet Pro Blender Combo, Nutribullet Blender Combination and Nutribullet 600W Nutrient Extractor.
Best Blender For Soup Lovers
We tested the Instant Pot Ace Nova cooker blender. It is the only one that can actually cook. While some blenders — including certain Vitamix blender like Vitamix e310 explorian blender, the Braun TriForce and Breville Super Q — use sheer force and friction to heat up a blend, this one generates heat to cook what’s inside and then whirs it all into a pureed soup with one button touch.
The mini model is comparable to a blender, but it doesn’t cost more than $1500. We found it to be a particularly impressive feature for a blender at this price.
It did well in all the other blending tests. It did pretty well, even though it was not the strongest blender. Instant Ace Nova worked great with frozen fruit, cheese, raw almonds, and ice. It also had a very easy cleaning process that was quite efficient — possibly the best. The Ace Nova was also quietest among the blenders that we tested.
One drawback to this blender is its size. The Instant Ace was one of the heaviest — not something you want to be moving around or lifting too often. Despite its size, it is still manageable. It’s a very versatile blender and will likely be a regular fixture on your counter.
Personal Blender: Best
Beast Health 1010 This category’s new product is my top pick. The brand names aren’t tied, even though it was created by the people behind NutriBullet.
I love the aesthetic of the Beast. You can also use it as a personal blender, which is both powerful and easy to use. The blender was easy to use in our testing. It could crush ice, grind nuts, or whip vegetables into puree. Thanks to the smooth, matte rubber handle, it feels wonderful in your hand. You’ll love it if you like to keep your smoothie- or shake maker on the counter. The lids can also be screwed on securely, and they double up as storage containers that you use to cool your blended drinks.
The Beast does not come cheap but $155 is fair for the blender, which includes drinking and storage cap. The NutriBullet RX, the brand’s flagship model, retails at $118. I would pay $40 more for the Beast B10’s style and substance improvements.

Vitamix 5200: The Best Blender
The Vitamix 5200 is by far the best blender we reviewed, for smoothies and anything else you can think to blend. Our tests showed it created silky smooth drinks. They were creamy and velvety. The 5200 also crushed the ice perfectly and did not blow our ears. It is easy to set-up the 5200. The base is not too heavy, but it isn’t difficult. A simple control panel features an on/off and variable speed switches, as well dials for setting the power level. The control panel doesn’t contain any buttons or settings that are more specialized, though we don’t think they were necessary. This is just a straightforward, extremely efficient high-performance blender packing a ton of power.
The only downside to buying a Vitamix blender is the price. These blenders are quite expensive. The brand does offer a 7-year warranty so it is well worth the money if you intend to use the product regularly. You can also find refurbished and second-hand versions at a discounted price through resellers.
Zwilling is the Best Personal Blender
Zwilling Endigy personal blender is our favorite. The Zwilling Endigy has the most stylish design and highest power. The Zwilling Enfinigy was at the top of the list with its 500-watt power and offered the best small-scale mixing and drink experiences. You can use it for daily, small-scale smoothie making and to create smaller amounts of sauces.
Smooth smoothies were made quickly by the Zwilling Enfinigy. The smoothie setting was the only one that it has. It worked very well and there were no extra buttons to clutter up the slim body. It also produced a superb pesto using the press-to blend setting. The sauce was silky smooth and very well-emulsified so that it didn’t separate after being sat.
For single serving smoothies or sauces, the 550mL glass jar is the right size. Good design makes it simple to take the cup and lid with you, fulfilling our promise of a personal blender. The entire Zwilling Enfinigy can be washed in the dishwasher, except for the base and blade. It is definitely worth the $100 and includes a three year warranty.
Types Of Blenders
There are three major types of blenders currently on the marketplace. To test the relative effectiveness of these products and to assess their breadth, we tested high-rated brands from each category. Let’s take a look at the different styles.
Our top-rated and most popular blenders can turn at high speeds. They are therefore more expensive that other conventional models. You will often see them labeled “professional” in order to signal that they are up to more demanding tasks, such as handling nuts, tough leafy vegetables, or breaking ice for frozen drinks.
Standard blenders don’t have the capacity to handle as much heavy-duty blending, especially if they are meant to last. The less expensive category of blenders is best if your goal is to make simple smoothies.
Personal blenders, which are small and lightweight machines that blend one-off or larger batches of ingredients, can save space in the kitchen. Many blenders are designed to blend your smoothie right from the base. These blenders can also be used to make smaller quantities of dips or sauces.
