Dutch manufacturer Moccamaster says that its Moccamaster coffee maker is “the most powerful in the world.” It’s the same model that has been on the shelves since 1968. It makes great coffee, and it does everything else.
This sounds unbelievable, even though it is true. There is virtually nothing else that could touch it. These machines, which are handcrafted in the Netherlands, make exceptional coffee. The European Coffee Brewing Centre’s (ECBC), and the Specialty Coffee Association have awarded them quality seals.
Remember that specialty coffee would not touch drip coffee machines with a 10-foot pole. They can be heard saying, “Uh-oh quality?” It’s dedication to art. “No!” Most older coffee machines I reviewed in drip coffee maker reviews lack the finesse and sophistication required to make the best brew. This is why manual pour over coffee is not recommended. However, the Technivorm Moccamaster does a great job and makes coffee virtually identical to coffee made using a dripper. Plus, it brews up big batches at the touch of a button! You can make even the most inept barista faint at the knees with this powerful machine! The design is important!

Yes, you guessed it the heading was a dead giveaway: I think the Technivorm Moccamaster is only half the drip-coffee equation. Grinder is the second half. The same applies to any Moccamaster cheapie coffee maker. At the risk of repeating myself, I have to say: no grinder, no point in spending all that money on a coffee maker in the first place.
Grounds worthy of a coffee aficionado’s heaven the manual pour-over dripper have the distinct advantage of being a medium coarseness that just about every grinder I’ve reviewed can get right.
The Baratza Encore is a classic, that’s both inexpensive and well worth my approval. It’s a solid, well-crafted choice for pairing with a drip coffee maker, as it produces a nice even grind.

Instead I Got the Drip Coffee Maker
I was frustrated and decided to check out other reviews. I read more reviews before finally purchasing the Technivorm Moccamaster79312 Coffee Maker. While it cost me $120 more than the OXO machine, I couldn’t resist spending the extra money for coffee-stains. But it looked the same and performed the exact same as OXO.
Let’s hear it. Drumroll, please. Are you ready? Do you feel the excitement? The best part is that I actually love it. You can see, feel, and hear the drip stopper in your brew basket. We will only get one tiny drip onto the carafe’s cup holder at most. But even that is uncommon.
Technivorm Moccamaster79312 Coffeemaker, 320 USD (normally, $339). This coffee maker comes with an stainless steel carafe, which keeps your coffee hot. Two stoppers are included: one that allows you to pour the water into the brewer, and another that is more of a plug.
Although I am not a coffee expert, I can’t tell the difference in the OXO and this coffee machine. It takes a comparable amount of time (four to six minutes) to brew the coffee and it always comes out piping hot.
Easy to clean all the pieces and little to none grounds at the bottom. While I do have one complaint about the machine, it cannot be programmed for turning on before time. Knowing that I need to brew a coffee is actually a great way to get out from bed every morning.
Budget Choice: A coffee maker costs $320. A budget-friendly, drip coffee machine is the Cuisinart14-Cup Coffee Maker. I’ve also used it in the past. Although it’s only $100, I think that this would have been my favorite choice.

Moccamasters arrive wrapped in recycled paper. Although my first review unit was damaged by a chip at the enamel edge, the team swiftly replaced it. It was not a problem with the Technivorm’s performances, as it was at the back. Moccamaster is known for their 5-year warranties.
You will need to follow the detailed instructions when brewing. But, it was up to me to set the showerhead and basket together.
Two cycles of water are recommended before you use. This is easy.
The Moccamaster KBGV coffee maker is also one of a handful of machines designated by the Specialty Coffee Association for meeting their Golden Cup Standard. You will find the exact amount of coffee you need to achieve your perfect ratio in the instructions. For example, use 2 TBSP ground coffee for each 6 oz. To make 10 cups of coffee, use 7 tbsp water. It comes with a 2 tbsp. The scoop was not as large as I expected and it didn’t last very long. At first I thought that the parts would be too boring. However, I found it to be beneficial for easy filling with the grounds and transportation to the trash.
The virtually incognito dripstop is another interesting design element. There is a small lever below the brew basket. If the glass serving tray is on the hotplate, the coffee will flow naturally. The moment you remove the carafe, say mid-brew cycle, it will pause the coffee flow.
