Bodum Bistro Burr Coffee Grinder

Donna Currie / Donna Spruce Shop on Wayfair Order on Bodum.com. Our reviewer bought the BODUM BISTRO Bur Coffee Grinder in order to try it out in her kitchen. For our full review, please continue reading.

The BODUM BISTRO Burr Coffee Grinder is designed for one simple task: grinding whole bean coffee. Do you really need to grind beans yourself? You can either buy whole coffee beans or ground coffee at the shop, but both of them will go stale if they aren’t used quickly enough. Your dark-roast Columbian Decaf could be mixed up with light-roast Arabica that was purchased previously.

The best coffee tastes better when freshly ground. You can have freshest coffee with your grinder. The BODUM grinder allows you to experiment with different grind settings for various types of coffeemakers. We tried out the coffee grinder and were impressed with its results.

Alternatives for the Bodum Bistro Grinder Baratza Encore Grinder. We love the Baratza Encore, which is our best pick for an entry-level grinder. It has been around eight years and is an established grinder. Baratza is a well-respected company when it comes to burr grinders. This makes the encore the ideal grinder for manual coffee brewing. It has 40mm alloy steel conical burrs, 450 RPM, and an impressive 40 grind settings. It is durable and compact. This grinder is great for manual brewing. The grinder may be more expensive that the Bodum Bistro. But it is definitely worth every penny. Read our complete review.

The Breville Smart Grinder Pro is a grinder for the techy brewer. Its sleek and stylish stainless steel design is sure to look good on your benchtop. There are 40mm stainless steal burrs and a 450 RPM grinder. The grinder also has 60 grind settings. You can adjust the grind time by using the Precision Electronic Timer, which allows for a 0.2 second increment to get the right dose. Easy-to-use LCD screens display the grind setting, grind duration, and how many shots have been taken. Check out our detailed review.

Bodum Bistro’s verdict. What is the take-home message? It depends on the type of food you’re looking for. It is definitely worth spending the extra money on something like the Baratza Encore, if your budget allows. The more you dabble in the world of coffee, the more you will see grinder quality is pretty key.

Another Products that we have tested

Baratza – Virtuoso Baratza – Virtuoso looks professional with a smaller footprint than other almost pro-level grinders. It’s simple, easy to use and comes with many options. It was functionally good for the profile that we desired, with at least half of its settings being acceptable. But it did not perform as consistently as our Bodum or Breville tests. It was difficult to recommend due to the lack of options available for customization and the fact that it came in the middle price range. The Baratza was a high quality product, but didn’t fit the parameters we set for being the best at-home grinder.

Baratza is a popular brand with coffee professionals for longevity and great customer service. But even the coffee professionals consulted for this review agreed the dramatic difference in price-point made it hard to choose this established brand over the Bodum.

This item seems to have been out of stock on Amazon for a while now, and on Baratza’s official site, when you try to buy the Virtuoso, it redirects you to the Virtuoso+ item. The same grinder appears to have been used with the addition of a timer. Given the high cost, we are unlikely to test it. It performed well in the fine to medium-fine range, making it good for pour over coffees, but quality and consistency was lacking for other styles. The Capresso did everything okay, but nothing great.

Fair enough, though, it is used mostly for pourover coffee by four family members. Capresso coffee grinders are very affordable. They can be used in many homes and look great.

KitchenAid – KCG0702CU

This grinder looks great, and it feels very heavy duty. It had a large footprint and was very heavy. If space is a concern, it would be difficult to store on the counter. There weren’t any steps to get between different grind settings. That left just four possible settings. The grind hopper and catcher were both made of glass, but beans would get caught in the grind hopper. To force beans into the burrs, the user must open the hopper.

Krups, – GX5000 Krups, – DBM-8 Cuisinart received top marks in our tasting test. However, both Krups, – GX5000 Krups, – DBM-8 failed to meet the requirements for consistency and durability. Grinder suitable for French presses can only be made with the finest settings. The burrs were smaller and less expensive than the best, so it was difficult for them to crush properly. During the initial test, one of the buttons on our Cuisinart had stopped working. Unplug it and pull the cord. Then plug it in once more. The plug worked. We don’t know why.

The bottom line

To make a cup of great-tasting coffee, a quality grind must be high in quality. Bodum – Bistro combines consistent grind profiles, durable materials and a user-friendly design to produce a fantastic cup of coffee. It was the top-rated in our tasting test. Those qualities and a consumer-friendly value make it the the best electric coffee grinder for home brewing of French press, pour over, drip and Aeropress coffee. Breville Smart Grinder Pro came in second place. This grinder has many of the same professional options as our top choice Bodum. However, the stepless grind gives the user endless options to create the perfect grind.

Is Bodum Coffee Grinder A Good Brand?

The Verdict Bodum Bistro electric coffee burr grinder is an entry-level gadget without any extra features and a limited range of grind settings. However, the quality of every grind is superior to what you get from a blade grinder and some cheaper burr grinders.

Bodum Coffee Grinders: What is the Source?

Grinding Spices With A Coffee Mill When it comes to coffee mills, they too can be used to grind select spices. Obviously there are size restrictions, just like with your electrical blade grinders, and you should keep in mind that this time instead of using blades, you’ll be grinding with burrs.
